Two fire engines were sighted at the scene at Market Street at approximately 10.20am with the road closed towards Lowthian Street and Orchard Street.

Witnesses heard fire alarms from inside the nightclub that was operated by Deltic. The group still operates at Evoque on Church Street.

There was no sign of fire or smoke but three firefighters were spotted on the roof of the building.

We will provide more information on this incident as it becomes available.

The nightclub closed its doors at the end of October after struggles despite a £250,000 renovation in 2014.

As Squires, the venue became iconic for their successful Monday student nights. The events have since been moved to Evoque.
