A growing interest with diet and nutrition is to see a Preston gym open a ‘health cafe’ for its members.
AdvertisementReal Gym which operates from Shereton House in Ormskirk Road says it ‘is finding increased demand for refreshments’.
Plans have been lodged with Preston City Council to convert part of the downstairs of the gym.
The cafe will have space for 15 people and provide specialist nutrition along with healthy food and drink such as protein led meals, vegan and gluten free and health shakes.
It will be open to the general public as well as regular gym goers.

A statement from Smith and Love planning consultants, based at Preston Docks, states: “We hope that you can support this proposed part change of use of the ground floor of the unit and assist in helping the current business diversify and provide additional facilities for current clients and general members of the public with an interest in healthy eating.”
Real Gym opened in late 2014 in what used to be the Ruby Chinese restaurant.
