A seven-car crash saw cars go spinning across the M6 shortly before 7am on Friday (18 November).

The incident just south of Junction 29 saw cars facing the wrong way in the road after using motorway lanes covered in snow. Police said there were only minor injuries.

The Met Office had issued a warning for ice and snow during Thursday night and into Friday morning leading to hundreds of calls to emergency services as the road network froze.

North West Motorway Police said they had taken 128 calls overnight relating to incidents on icy roads.

A video has been released showing the conditions on the M61 at 4am, with the police car crawling at 39mph due to the weather conditions.
