Pictures show the fireball that emerged from a Penwortham home that has been left gutted by fire.

The property in Bramble Court, off Kingswood Drive, faces demolition after a fire – which began in the conservatory – ripped through the building.

These pictures show the inferno faced by Lancashire Fire and Rescue Services during the early hours of Friday (28 October).

Specialist equipment and an aerial ladder was needed after six firefighters trying to enter the house had to turn back due to the intense heat.

Neighbour Gavin Seed who took the pictures described hearing ‘explosions’ coming from the house.

No one was hurt in the fire as the family escaped to safety before the blaze spread through their home.

The fire service said they were still investigating the cause of the fire.
