Motorists are being advised of hazardous weather conditions during Friday rush hour.
AdvertisementThe Met Office has issued a warning of heavy rain from Friday afternoon (9 September) across Preston and Lancashire.
The chief forecaster states: “An active weather front will bring a period of heavy rain this evening, coinciding with peak travel across much of the warning area. As a result, surface water and spray is likely to affect road travel.”
The warning is in force from 4pm on Friday until 12midnight, and covers North Western England and southern Scotland.
The adverse weather conditions mean Friday night flying at the Southport Air Show has been cancelled.
Organisers say due to the expected cross-winds aircraft will not be able to take off.
Anyone who has already bought tickets can use these during Saturday or Sunday’s show.
