No traffic was being allowed to head westbound from the city centre towards Penwortham.

Preston Police warned there was no access from the Ringway/Corporation Street junction down to Marsh Lane.

A bystander said they saw four or five police cars in attendance along with two ambulances.

It is not known how many vehicles are involved at this stage.

Pedestrians and cyclists were also being told not to go down that stretch of the Ringway, it was completely closed off.

The closure was in place from 8pm on Friday (30 September) before police lifted the cordon around 9pm.
