A no cold calling zone doesn’t seem to have put off a band of rogue gardeners in the Fulwood area.
AdvertisementTrading Standards at Lancashire County Council are warning about a group of rogue traders offering their services door to door.
The traders are offering gardening work including hedge cutting and tree pruning.
A spokesman for Trading Standards said: “Once a price has been agreed work starts and after a short time full payment is requested.
“Once payment is received work soon stops and the workers leaver never to return.”
Complaints have been received from homeowners in Fulwood, Holme Slack and Sharoe Green.
The scam warning comes as a swathe of roads in Cadley were declared a no cold calling zone after numerous complaints from residents in the area.
Trading Standards advise never do business on the doorstep and never pay all of the money up front. If you do need work doing then use the county council’s Safe Trader scheme. You can also follow the Scambuster Scam page on Facebook for the latest from the county’s Trading Standards team.
