Preston’s warm spell has come to an abrupt end with a return to ‘unseasonable’ weather, according to weather forecasters.
AdvertisementHeavy rain has been lashing the city and surrounding areas throughout Friday and the Met Office say the weather is only going to get worse on Saturday.
A yellow weather warning, the least severe level, has been issued for strong winds all day on Saturday. Heavy rain is expected alongside the winds.
The warning states “Gusts are expected to reach 40-50 mph inland, and 50 to very locally 60 mph along exposed coastlines in the south and west. Please be aware that these winds may lead to disruption to transport, and in view of the time of the year, there is increased potential for disruption to outdoor activities.”
Lancashire is included in the warning area.
The warning is in force from 2am on Saturday to 9pm on Saturday (20 August).
