Temporary traffic signals are due to be in place to direct traffic around the works at the junction with London Road – with drivers able to make their way along New Hall Lane but directed where they can and can’t go.

Highways manager for the county council Ridwan Musa said: “We’re sorry for any disruption to people’s journeys while this vital work takes place.

“We are doing everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum, including sequencing the work to complete it in two stages during the night-time, when traffic levels will be lower.

“However, I would ask people to be aware of the potential for delays in this area and to allow more time for their journeys while this work is carried out.”
