The Fishergate ‘plinth’ has come a cropper once again.

An Audi was seen stranded on the road feature – dubbed a mini roundabout by many – on Monday morning.

Preston Police closed off Fishergate while the car was towed off the raised kerb.

The plinth itself had been sent flying into the road once more, and is set to be replaced with a traffic cone.

Lancashire County Council introduced the shared space layout to Fishergate in late 2014 and the plinth has taken a tumble a number of times since then – causing damage to front bumpers.

The new road layout has been criticised by business groups who say it is causing gridlock in the city during busy shopping periods.
