Air ambulance called following serious four car collision

A number of people have been taken to hospital following a four vehicle collision in Lostock Hall.

Police have described one of the people involved in the incident as having sustained “serious injuries”.

The accident occurred where Leyland Road meets Coote Lane at around 3pm on Sunday.

An air ambulance was called to the scene with Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service using cutting tools to free those involved in the accident.

A woman was rescued from a car by firefighters from Bamber Bridge and Preston.

Two men were treated at the scene by paramedics.

All three people involved were taken to Royal Preston Hospital.

Leyland Road remained closed from past the junction with Brownedge Road until after Coote Lane. The road reopened shortly after 7pm on Sunday (7 August).

The 111 bus service was being diverted via Penwortham Way as a result.
