Prestonians are being warned about an unofficial event claiming to take place in Avenham Park.
AdvertisementParty in the park 2016 is listed on Facebook as having 1,700 people interested in going.
However, Preston City Council’s events team is advising the event does not have permission to take place.
On Facebook the organisers have a picture of a ferris wheel and say there will be live music, inflatables and a beer tent on Saturday 13 August and Sunday 14 August.
A spokeswoman for the city council said: “This event has not been granted permission by the Council and any attempts to contact the organiser have been unsuccessful.
“We would advise residents to avoid paying for tickets until the event has been approved and given the short lead in time it is unlikely to receive permission on this occasion.”
