Lancashire Police were called to Preston Road in Whittle-le-Woods after reports of a collision.
A 23-year-old man, from the Preston area, was found with multiple injuries and pronounced dead at the scene on Sunday (10 July).
Police are now appealing for witnesses to understand how the rider of a red Honda motorcycle died.
He was heading northbound on the A6 when he approached the junction with Factory Lane, police say a BMW car attempted to turn right into Preston Road from Factory Lane close to Whittle-le-Woods primary school. The car and motorbike collided.
The driver of the BMW, a 40-year-old woman from Bolton, suffered whiplash injuries and was treated for shock.
Sergeantt Rob Gomery said: “This is a tragic incident and my thoughts are with the family and friends of this man at this sad time.
We are appealing for any witnesses to come forward to help with our enquiries.
“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the motorcyclist before the collision or may have witnessed the incident.
The incident happened around 2.45pm on Sunday.
