She was the passenger on a green Kawasaki motorcycle going from Clitheroe to Preston.

Police say she somehow fell off the vehicle and landed on the opposite side of the road. The girl was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with suspected broken bones.

Sgt Claire Pearson from the Road Policing Unit said: “The girl was extremely lucky to have escaped from this with just cuts to her abdomen as it could have been much more serious.

“We need anyone who may have seen something to get in touch as they could have seen something that could assist with our investigation.”

The road was closed for an investigation but reopened two hours later.
