Preston is welcoming the UK’s most talented young musicians who will perform their stunning classical programme at Preston Guild Hall on Saturday 30 July at 7pm.

The National Children’s Orchestra, a hundred-strong group with all members aged 14 years or below, are set to take to the stage later this month to deliver its ‘Main Orchestra Summer Concert’.

This talented group, founded in 1978, have performed in some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing.

In preparation the young musicians will partake in eight days of rehearsals at Rossall School, Lancashire, exploring material from their latest repertoire with the support of top class music tutors and pastoral care staff.

NCO Guest Conductor, Natalia Luis-Bassa, said: “Working with the vibrant and highly talented young musicians of the NCO is always a highlight of my year!

“Come along and experience the extraordinary talents of these incredible musicians.”

The NCO performances are renowned for their intensity, vivacity and commitment – but above all for their professionalism.

Hoping to inspire music lovers of all ages, the programme will include a variety of stirring classical pieces, such as Ravel’s arrangement of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, Bernstein’s Overture to Candide and Márquez’s ferocious Conga del Fuego Nuevo.

She said: “Being a part of the NCO for the last three years has been an incredibly enriching experience.

“The programme is exciting, but challenging. I have no doubt we will rise to the occasion with the guidance of our Guest Conductor, Natalia Luis-Bassa.”
