Miss Preston scoops Miss England 2016 title

Preston’s Elizabeth Grant has been crowned Miss England at a glitzy ceremony in Southport.

The student is heading for the Miss World finals after coming first out of 20,000 applicants from across the UK.

20-year-old Elizabeth, who is the current Miss Preston, won the crown with Miss Newcastle Vicky Turner coming second.

The Miss World finals are held in Washington in late November and comes with a $100,000 first prize.

Elizabeth, from Ribbleton, said: “I am so blessed and so grateful to even be here.”
