An appeal has been launched to trace any witnesses after a motorcyclist died in a crash on a busy Preston road.

Preston Police closed London Road for around four hours while they investigated the incident which left a 28-year-old man dead.

He was riding a green Kawasaki motorbike when it was involved in a collision with a black BMW 520 that was turning right from Salmon Street into the A6.

A number of people tried to save the motorcyclist but he was pronounced dead at the scene around 8pm on Sunday (3 July).

PS Claire Pearson of the Road Policing Unit said: “A man has sadly lost his life as a result of this collision and an investigation is underway to establish exactly how it came to occur.

“We have already spoken to a number of witnesses at the scene but the collision took place on a busy road and I would urge anyone else who saw what happened and has not yet spoken to us to get in touch.”
