A new bike shop is opening in Preston as part of a push to get people to cycle to and from the city’s railway station.
AdvertisementLeisure Lakes Bikes has confirmed it is opening in August as part of Preston Station’s revamp.
Virgin Trains is carrying out £2m of repair and restoration works on the mainline station.
A statement from Leisure Lakes Bikes said: “As a family run business since 1981 we are proud and enthusiastic to be on board with such a great project. We love to see people enjoying cycling whether it be someone new to cycling or those who have a a long time passion for the sport.
“We are keen to open the doors to our new store, especially in our home town, and offer the community of Preston access to a great new place to store bikes alongside all the services we offer at our other 10 UK stores.”
Their nearest shop is currently at Mere Brow in Tarleton.

The bike shop is part of the Bike Hub being built by Virgin Trains next to the multi storey car park.
It will allow 24-hour access to a safe and secure place to lock up your bike, with 200 spaces.
Leisure Lakes is to be open 7am to 7pm Monday to Thursday, 7am to 6pm on Fridays and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays. It will be closed on Sundays.
