Scaffolding has gone up around what used to be Comet at the Capitol Centre in Walton-le-Dale.

Shoppers have been curious to know what’s coming as part of the front and side of the store is ripped away.

Royal London Mutual Insurance Society Ltd, which owns retail park, said plans were in place for a new tenant.

A spokesman for the firm said: “The work has begun and it’s on track to become home to Furniture Village.

“We’re looking at August for them to take occupancy.”

Ramraid bollards and taller windows to the front and side of the store are being put in place, following a minor planning application to South Ribble Borough Council.

It’s not known whether a change of use application will be required before Furniture Village begin trading from the site.
