Tornado hunters spotted the weather phenomena trying to form over Lea Pic: Candice Robinson and Benny Mc’Nally

Darkening skies over Preston have seen a mini-tornado form.

The funnel appeared in the clouds over Lea.

No weather warnings are issued for the Preston area but eagle-eyed weather watchers Benny Mc’Nally and Candice Robinson snapped the twister trying to form, and posted to the Preston Chatterbox group.

Derek Drummond snapped this picture of the funnel cloud forming in Ashton-on-Ribble during his evening dog walk.

Rain is expected in the city during Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Temperatures are due to stay at around 15 degrees Celsius all week.
