A carnival at the heart of a community near Preston has been granted vital funding.
AdvertisementLostock Hall Carnival faced being scaled back but they have received £500 towards the cost of insurance and a marching band.
Faringdon county councillor Michael Otter agreed the funding from his personal grants allowance, each Lancashire County County councillor gets a few thousand pounds a year to give to good causes and community groups.
An application from Mark McMahon, treasurer of the Lostock Hall Carnival Committee, stated: “This event will benefit the whole of the community by allowing access irrelevant of ability to participate in a community event.
“It will bring together the community and help promote a feel good factor.
“A knock on effect will happen for local trade by bringing people out of their homes to participate.”
The carnival takes place on Saturday 2 July and takes a route through the town.
