A Spitfire had been due to roar above the Flag Market during Saturday’s event.

However, organisers said a fuel issue meant the plane had to be swapped with another.

A Hurricane makes the journey instead – the plane which accounted for 60 per cent of the RAF’s air victories in the Second World War’s Battle of Britain.

Last Saturday (18 June) the city was treated to the distinctive sound of a Spitfire was it blasted across the sky during the Preston Military Show at Fulwood Barracks.
