A four-day fashion show across Preston city centre is coming to the city in October.Advertisement
Pure Preston Fashion Week is the brainchild of city photographer Simon Rawsthorn.
Launched following a one day event in Evoque nightclub last year he says he wants to offer designers and aspiring models the spotlight.
He said: “We had a great turnout last year so I wanted to take the fashion shows to the next level.
“There’s a lot of talent here in Preston and the surrounding area, so I think we can compete with Manchester and Liverpool to show off what we can do.”
The event, taking place in October, is to use various venues across the city centre with an opening night in the Harris Museum and Art Gallery.
Mr Rawsthorn said: “I wanted somewhere with a great backdrop and so we’re doing an exclusive event to open the festival.
“There will be a focus on evening wear and ahead of the Christmas party season it will be ballgowns and suits.
“We’re using the top floor of the museum and it’s just a great space.”
Operating from a studio in Primrose Mill, Adelaide Street, Mr Rawsthorn says there’s already plenty of models and photographers on board.
He said: “They know at the main show they’ve got the chance to work with major fashion brands like M&S, French Connection and Quiz.
“We won’t just have independent designers at this there’s also major fashion houses coming to Preston – and they will be looking for talent.”
Pop-up fashion events are to take place during the second and third day of the festival, with the fourth day seeing the main catwalk shows take place once again at Evoque.
The show will cost around £7 to enter but is on from 12noon to 6pm and includes a free goodie bag, entertainment and there will be a host of clothes stalls and craft stalls at the event.
The Pure Fashion festival takes place from Wednesday 5 October to Saturday 8 October, and is supported by Preston’s Business Improvement District.
Designers, models, photographers, venues and stallholders are wanted for the event and can still sign up. Mr Rawsthorn is also looking for a final few sponsors for the events.

There’s also a Facebook page for the festival which will have full details on when and where the shows are taking place.
