The Co-Op Food Store in Garstang Road, Fulwood, is shutting its doors.

A clearance sale has begun at the small food shop, which is part of the Texaco garage.

Staff at the shop have posted a sign on the door informing customers it is to close on Saturday 16 July.

A spokesman for the Co-op said: “I can confirm the sale of our Garstang Road store to Rontec Group Limited. On completion of the sale all staff will be transferred to the new owners.

“The decision to sell the store has been made as part of our on-going store review process and is in no way a reflection on the hard work and commitment from the colleagues working at the store.”

It’s understood the Co-Op is to become another food retailer, most likely part of the Spar chain.
