A chicken processing plant in Deepdale has been allowed to expand further.
AdvertisementGafoor Poultry Products in Fletcher Road had reapplied to build a two storey building to the side of its existing plant.
It also wanted to extend its service yard on its western side, and raise the height of its extension.
Councillors on the city’s planning committee approved the proposal on Thursday 28 April.
Two objections were received, both stating the chicken plant caused adverse smells in the area.
Conditions imposed on the extension state it cannot be used for slaughtering or butchering.
Planning officers state: “The proposal would be beneficial in improving the facilities for chilled dispatch and packing at existing factory premises and would not significantly affect vehicular movements or parking within the site or the amenities of neighbouring businesses or residents.
“The proposed building would have an acceptable appearance in terms of its design and materials. As such, the proposal complies with the relevant provisions of the development plan and there are no material considerations which outweigh this finding.”
