Preston firefighters say a fire put out at a flat in Deepdale may have been started deliberately.

Three crews from Preston and Penwortham were rushed to Ribbleton Lane at 1.25am on Saturday.

Reports had indicated there were still people inside the flat, close to the Skeffington Pub.

Six teams of firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, searched the property – which is above a shop. They found no one in the building.

The fire was put out and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service has passed the incident to the police, as they say the fire ‘is of suspicious origin’.
