Preston M55 and M6 junction reopened after crash

Preston’s motorway network ground to a halt due to a major crash on Wednesday evening.

Highways England closed access to the M6 southbound from the M55 at Fulwood due to a collision involving a number of vehicles.

The incident happened around 7.30pm on Wednesday (20 April).

Delays were reported in and around Fulwood and Broughton.

Anyone wanting to join the M6 had to go the 15-mile stretch up to Junction 33 and then come back south. The southbound slip road reopened around 9.45pm and Highways England said there were no delays.

Elsewhere a major incident on Brockholes Brow has seen Preston Police close the A59 in both directions after a collision.
