Police appeal to trace woman after Greenhalgh’s bakery incident

Police have launched a hunt for a ‘Greenhalgh’s grabber’ after an incident a city centre bakery.

A female customer was approached from behind by a man while in the Fishergate shop at 8am on Friday 8 April.

The man grabbed her shoulders and put his arm around her.

A member of staff at the bakery intervened and the woman was able to break free and leave the shop.

DC Kate Clancy from Preston CID said: “This incident was reported to us after it happened and we are keen to trace the woman involved so that we can speak to her directly and check that she is okay. Unfortunately we do not have any further details about the woman and as such we have so far been unable to contact her.

“I would urge her, if she sees this appeal, to come forward and get in touch with us. Similarly, if anyone was in the bakery at the time and has any information that could help with our enquiries, I would urge them to contact us.”
