The 74-year-old man had been parking his car near Preston Minster on Saturday shortly after 2pm.

Preston Police closed off Syke Hill and the area around the Warehouse nightclub while the man was attended to.

Bystanders at the scene reported seeing the man run over by a grey Volvo.

It is understood the grey Volvo belonged to the pensioner, and the handbrake had come off.

The car rolled down the hill, trapping the man, and he is believed to have suffered injuries to his ribs, back and legs.

An ambulance took the man to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.
