A man’s body has been found on a motorway near Preston during the early hours of Thursday morning.

Officers were called to the M55 between junctions 1 to 3, near to Woodplumpton.

When attending they found a 55-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene at around 2am.

The death, between junctions 1 to 3, close to Higher Bartle Bridge, is not being treated as suspicious.

Roads Policing Officer Sgt Claire Pearson said: “We are trying to piece together the last movements of this man and so if anyone saw someone at Tabley Lane Bridge this morning or if you have any information that could help with our investigation, please get in contact.”

A file has been passed to the coroner.
