Rumours Hollywood A-lister Will Ferrell is moving to Preston have been quashed.
AdvertisementA spoof website attempted to claim the Anchorman star was looking a more ‘genuine’ place to live than LA – and he’d settled on Preston.
KUPR 7 News network starts spoof stories in the hope they go viral, but sadly it is being debunked.
Although we at Blog Preston would love to see Will Ferrell on North West Tonight – move over Roger Johnson – it’s not true.
A few Prestonians had taken to Facebook to comment on the ‘news’ as it was widely shared on social media.
David Marshall said: “Will Ferral (sic) is welcome around mine for beer & BBQ any time. I’m a resident of Preston for the record.”
Michael Gildert said: “Can’t beat Preston folk, real genuine people, and we have the greatest football (soccer) club in the world #pnefc”
While Kirsty Boyle said: “Erm where in Preston? Somewhere away from the real goings ons!!! Take a walk down some of the rougher areas and see if you stick around then.”

The KUPR7 website, where the rumour was published, ‘belongs to a large network of near-identical spoof websites that have been publishing the same kind of nonsense articles ever since they were created in 2016.
“This network of websites has been responsible for a number of viral fake stories that have circulated primarily throughout Twitter and other social media.”
