A new cafe is due to open close to the university campus in Preston.

Mr A Akhter has applied for permission to convert the building, which is opposite to the University of Central Lancashire Students’ Union and just down the road from the Mad Ferret.
A statement from Aamir Design, who are acting for Mr Akhter, states: “The property has been in use as a travel agency for some time and now lies vacant, the Applicant intends to return the property into use and from experience, its use as a cafe would supplement the other beverages which are sold in and around the university predominantly serving the student population and teaching staff.
“With the close proximity of the university’s many faculty buildings, the customer base is likely to be on foot and parking provision should therefore not be an issue. There is
short term parking in front of the parade of shops on Fylde Road which is available should the need arise.”
The cafe is due to be open from 11am to 9pm each day.
The full plans can be found on the Preston City Council website, where people can comment if they wish.
