Police chase ends at M55 junction in Broughton

Police used a stinger on a car at the M55 in Broughton in the early hours of Friday morning after a police chase across the county.

Four people have been arrested on suspicion of a burglary at Oak Bank Terrace, Nelson.

Preston Police deployed the stinger to stop the Citreon C5 which had been spotted in the Blackpool area.

PC Hesketh said: “A car was stolen earlier this evening from Nelson during a burglary. It made a big mistake entering the Broughton area where it was picked up by traffic and dog patrols who called in the helicopter for help.

“The car was stopped and despite trying to flee, all four people that were in the car have been arrested on suspicion of burglary, and driving or allowing themselves to be carried in a stolen car.”

A 31-year-old man of no fixed address, a 23-year-old man from Nelson, a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl from Burnley are in custody.
