South Ribble Police said on Friday 18 March they received reports of suspicious activity at the Natwest bank in Station Road, Bamber Bridge.

A police spokesman said: “A device was recovered from the machine that would have trapped users cards allowing them to be stolen and/or cloned.

“A great result and team effort which will have saved many residents from both physical and financial harm.”

The man was also arrested for possession of a knife.

Police have asked the public to continue to be vigilant for card skimming activity and report it to 101.
