Prestigious Chinese New Year celebrations coming to 53 Degrees

53 Degrees will play host to Chinese New Year celebrations next week.

A prestigious and colourful performance troupe will visit Preston to celebrate the occasion.

The Chongqing Chuanju Theatre Chinese New Year show will take place with the troupe receiving acclaim from media such as the New York Times and the Financial Times.

Chuanju, the style of opera that will be performed, is known for colourful costumes, martial arts and acrobatics.

The company was created in 1951 and has more than 40 celebrities and masters and counts Tie Mei, three times winner of the highest award for Chinese drama, among its alumni.

The event celebrates the Year of the Monkey and runs from midday to 2pm at 53 Degrees.
