A cafe could be coming to Preston’s largest park.
AdvertisementBowling pavilions in the centre of Moor Park may see a new use if they are converted.
Preston City Council has applied for permission to open what it says will be a ‘small catering outlet’.
Plans show how the current meeting room for bowlers in the park would become a cafe serving hot and cold drinks as well as sandwiches.
A second pavilion would remain as a base of the park rangers.
Outdoor seating will also be on offer as well as new French doors added to the building.
The exterior of the pavilion would be repainted and new shutters added and painted in Brunswick Green in keeping with other features of the park.
The grade II listed park is currently receiving more than £2 million in lottery funding.
Earlier this month the city council said the proposed improvements to the park would help solve its drainage issues and may lead to more major events taking place.
