The Fishwick man who died in a dog attack on New Year’s Day has been named.

Liam Hewitson, 22, has been named locally as the victim

He is thought to have died after having a fit and then being set upon by his dog.

The dog, understood to have been a pitbull-type breed, attacked and bit him.

Ambulance crews were called to Dundonald Street in Fishwick at around 3.45pm on Friday 1 January.

Liam was treated for his injuries at the scene but died.

His girlfriend Jessica Hill took to Facebook to pay tribute posting a picture collage of the two of them together and writing “My baby boy always and forever.”
