A Preston woman has spoken of her terror at a road rage incident close to the Broughton roundabout.
AdvertisementThe driver, who asked not to be named, claimed she was subjected to a torrent of abuse and threats by a fellow motorist.
She said: “I was in the car alone driving an old people carrier with a peace sign on the back.
“I wasn’t presenting any threat. This guy undertook me and took offence for reasons I don’t quite understand.
“There was a lot of slamming on of brakes by him.”
As both vehicles reached the Broughton roundabout, at around 12.45pm on Sunday, the intimidation intensfied.
She said: “We reached the lights at the Broughton roundabout and we were almost parallel.
“He got out of his car and screamed ‘you think that’s funny? I’ll show you what’s funny’ and he grabbed the keys from my ignition and threw them across the road.”
The traumatised victim then got out of her car to get her keys but was targeted by the other motorist.
She claims he set off twice, knocking her onto his bonnet. Before letting her off and proceeding to drive into her car door, which removed part of his front bumper.
He then made a u-turn on the central reservation and sped off, according to the shaken driver.
She said: “Some lovely people had come to help me as I was by this point hysterical.
“Unfortunately no one got his registration.”
The car driven by the man was a red Citroen C1 with a front passenger fog light surrounding missing.
Lancashire Police are understood to be investigating the matter and reviewing CCTV from the area to try and trace the vehicle.
