Preston Police have launched an appeal after the teenager was targeted and told to hand over his bike.

The boy was making his way between Plungington Road and Havelock Street around 2.30pm when he was approached by a man.

The offender pulled a small black-handled kitchen knife on the boy.

He then made off with the bike, which is a yellow Diamond Back Synch 1.0 mountain bike.

Det Con Ian Zanelli, of Preston CID, said: “This was a particularly terrifying and unnerving ordeal for the teenager and I urge the person responsible or anyone with any information at all to come forward.

“We are particularly keen to talk anyone who was near to the scene at the time of the incident who may have seen the suspect in the vicinity.”

The offender is described as white, aged 18 to 19-years-old, around 6ft in height wearing a black zipped hooded top with small ‘Nike tick’ to the upper left of his jacket. He was also wearing black jogging bottoms and black footwear. At the time of the attack the man covered his face with what officers believe was a scarf.

Anyone with information about the incident or about the offenders can contact Preston Police on 101 quoting log reference 0939 of December 20.

Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
