Nimes Street remained closed off by Preston Police during Sunday

A man has been charged with the murder of 50-year-old Steve Whitney in Fishwick.

Hugh Cushnaghan, of Montgomery Street, Irvine, Scotland was arrested on Sunday.

Mr Whitney was found with stab wounds at an address in Nimes Street, Fishwick, and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital.

He died a short time later on Sunday morning.

Cushnaghan, 63, is due to appear before Preston Magistrates on Wednesday.
