A 63-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a suspected stabbing in Fishwick.
AdvertisementPreston Police were called to an address in Nimes Street, off Fishwick Parade, at around 6am on Sunday.
A 50-year-old Preston man was found to be suffering from stab wounds following an altercation.
He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital but died a short time later.
The man arrested is from Scotland is in custody and continues to be questioned.
Forensics officers remain on the scene in Nimes Street as a post mortem examination is due to take place to establish the cause of death.
The crime scene is next door to the mosque where a parade by Preston’s Muslim community started their annual parade to the Prophet Mohammed.
Mosque leaders decided not to start the music of the parade or any chanting until they had moved past the crime scene on Sunday afternoon.
An investigation is underway led by Lancashire Constabulary’s Force Major Investigation Team and inquiries are on-going.
