A lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire has vowed to do 40 good things before she turns 40 this month.
AdvertisementMandy Dunbar, who mixes her UCLan career with being a member of Preston Roller Girls, is doing 40 good deeds in return for donations to her charity page.
She said: “So, here’s how it works. Instead of a party, I have organised a charity fashion show on my 40th to raise money for Destination Florida.
“This will be the 40th act that I will undertake to raise money between now and my 40th.”
Destination Florida is a Manchester-based charity that takes kids with life-limiting medical conditions away for the holidays of their dreams.
Mandy volunteered with them during last year’s trip to Disney World, Florida.
The 40th act, the charity show, will take place at Tinos in Preston on Saturday, November 28.
Her acts so far include fulfilling a terminally ill child’s wish for Christmas cards, helping out people away on holiday after the temperature dropped and donating essentials to appeals such as one by The Foxton Centre.
She added: “If you can think of anything you want from me, just ask, all I ask in return is a contribution to Destination Florida.
“It could be that you want a Mandrake making, a cake baking, your windows washing, babysitting (I am DBS checked), lawn mowing, a bottle of flavoured gin making…”
“Whatever you can think of (as long as it’s legal and I think I can achieve it) it’s fair game.”
