Work has begun on a new supermarket in the outskirts of Preston city centre.
AdvertisementQueen Street Retail Park looks set to finally become a reality, more than 20 years after original plans were drawn up.
Aldi has been confirmed as the 18,500 square foot flagship store for the site.
The steel structure is being put up with workman on site after clearing work took place to level off the site, which is a former Booths depot.
The Queen Street development is seen as key to the redevelopment of the Church Street end of the city centre.
Preston City Council announced last week it was to demolish a number of abandoned shops along Church Street.
And The Brookhouse Group, who own the Queen Street Retail park, has put up a temporary indoor trampoline centre to open for two years while the rest of the retail park is built.
