Red suits and white beards will take over the grounds of a Preston hospice once more this December.
AdvertisementThe annual Santa Dash in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice is to have some medical frontrunners this year.
A dozen doctors and nurses from the hospice join the two mile run through Lostock Hall and back into the hospice gardens.
St Catherine’s also has its Christmas Festival during the same weekend of Saturday 5 December and Sunday 6 December, with an ice rink, Santa’s grotto and giant snow globe.
The Santa Dash itself takes place on Sunday 6 December.
Senior staff nurse Alison Dick said: “A few of us who work together have been working to get in shape using the ‘couch to 5km’ app – it’s created a bit of a buzz around the unit and it’s nice that it’s something we can share and work on together.
“The Santa Dash is the perfect thing for us to take part as it ties in with our training, but most importantly will be such good fun.
“It’s been a wonderful year at St Catherine’s in 2015 with so many people joining in and celebrating our special birthday with us. It was important to us to make a contribution to all the incredible fundraising which has been going on, raising money through sponsorship to help fund the hospice’s vital care next year and beyond.
“We really want to reach our target of 300 Santas this year to make it extra special. Why not get a group of your work colleagues together to give it a go? It’s a great way to have some fun and give back this Christmas. We’re looking forward to joining lots of fantastic Father Christmases on the day.”
Entry for the Santa Dash is £10 for adults and £5 for under 18s. The Rudolph Rumble fun run for parents and children is £5. Entry via the hospice website.
