On Sunday morning many hundreds marched in the parade at Penwortham for Remembrance Sunday.
This was despite the heavy rain, which luckily held off during the service at Penwortham War Memorial in Liverpool Road.
The Royal British Legion, Penwortham Town Council, Penwortham Churches, and the local groups of beavers, cubs, scouts, rainbows, brownies and guides all took part along with members of the community.
Lostock Hall Memorial Band and 5th Penwortham Scout Band provided the music.
Mr Harry Bentham took the service, all the names of the fallen soldiers named on the memorial were read out, a two minute silence, laying of the wreaths, and prayers by Rev Chris Nelson from St Mary’s Church.
The parade returned to the British Legion on Leyland Road where a buffet was laid on for those who had taken part.
It was great to see so many young people taking part and hopefully in the years to come this long held tradition will continue.
