A man who battled drug addiction and lost a leg in the process is now enjoying a flourishing business career.
AdvertisementDavid McCollom has set up his own multimedia firm and is providing films for companies across the UK.
Graduating from the University of Central Lancashire in 2007 with a degree in multimedia and sonic art, the 47-year-old has now found his feet.
He’s now made films for the likes of airline Jet2 and the NHS.
Support for David was found in the Northern Lights business incubation unit at UCLan, which operates from the Media Factory.
David was able to tap into business experts and use their facilities to get his production company working.
He said: “I was able to meet a variety of people from the industry which wouldn’t be possible without the introduction from UCLan. It was vital in helping me make important contacts, while increasing my confidence and promoting my business.
“I received a huge amount of guidance, Lateef was so helpful in providing feedback and helping me to shape my ideas in order to grow the business, while Julia’s expertise regarding the financial side was invaluable. I had all the necessary skills and ideas but needed help in bringing it altogether in a strategic way.”
