A ‘Save Our Guild Wheel’ petition has attracted over 3,000 supporters, with the campaign looking to increase this number to 100,000.

The campaign launched on October 1, and is a combination of ‘Don’t let them build on your Guild Wheel’ and ‘Save Our Guild Wheel’. The petition was set up to protest Lancashire County Council and Preston City Council, and to save the Guild Wheel from housing development threats.

The cycle route is used by thousands each month, and the online petition looks specifically at the plans for 118 houses to be build on the edge of Fulwood, disturbing the current path.

The petition gained 1000 new supporters in less than a day, with organisers calling on the page for comments and support to continue.
