Lancashire County Council is preparing to pump money into the road – often branded an eyesore – as part of the City Deal.

County councillor John Fillis, executive member for highways and transport, is set to make a decision on initial plans for the road.

A stretch of New Hall Lane from Skeffington Road to Acregate Lane could see new speed restrictions, trees planted, new street lighting and increased parking for shoppers.

Changes to the junctions at Blackpool Road and London Road are also earmarked.

Cllr Fillis is to be asked to make a decision on Monday 12 October.
