Saturday September 12 saw an action packed day Preston’s Sainsbury’s store as their charity fundraising for Rock FM’s Cash For Kids took off with a bike ride, bag packing and even a “bike doctor”.
AdvertisementSeven riders completed the Sainsbury’s Big Bike Ride, raising money for the store’s local charity who were their carrying out bag-packing duties to raise money. Govelo was carrying out diagnostics on bikes which members of the public brought in free of charge which involved checking brakes and the overall safety of the bikes.
A dance troop, Inspirations, also carried out a flash mob in the aisles surprising and treating customers and weekend shoppers to an in-store performance.
As a company, each Sainsbury’s store has a charity to support and each region across the country holds a bike ride, with Preston hosting this last weekend.
The region covered stores across Longridge and Blackburn to name a couple, with rides completing their race at the Fintoff Way store.
Natasha Bilsborough, PR Ambassador for the Preston store said the final seven completed their race at around 6.30pm looking very tired, but the team were ready to welcome them with banners and water.
She said, ” The purpose is as a company Sainsbury’s have done this for three years now across the whole of the country and every supermarket and convenience store would hold a bike ride for a charity.”
The total amount raised is currently being counted.
