Tens of thousands of people are affected across the city and beyond, and they’ve been asking questions of the water firm after it issued the advice on Thursday afternoon.

The company says water for preparing food or brushing your teeth must be boiled first. The warning comes after small traces of a bacteria which can cause diarrhea were found in a water treatment plant in Preston.

The boil water warning is due to be in place until Friday morning but could now be in place until early next week.
